Programme Coordinator – Protection (Professional)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Programme Coordinator (Protection) to lead and support protection projects in Afghanistan. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Mission and the Head of Programmes and Operations, the incumbent will ensure that protection interventions are effectively designed, implemented and monitored in line with IASC policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of protection projects, from planning and budgeting to execution and reporting.
• Coordinate with internal units, UN agencies, NGOs and government partners to align protection activities with broader mission objectives.
• Monitor protection risks, develop mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with IASC Protection Policy.
• Prepare project documentation, progress reports and donor communications.
• Support the development of new protection initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Social Sciences or related field.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in protection programming or project coordination in humanitarian settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and liaise with diverse stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
