Midwife – Reproductive Health Services

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a qualified Midwife to deliver high‑quality reproductive health services in a humanitarian setting. The role combines direct clinical care, community mentorship, and coordination with local health structures to ensure safe maternal and newborn outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide client‑centered reproductive health consultations, including birth spacing and method‑mix counseling.
• Conduct triage, screening, and clinical assessments, taking comprehensive reproductive health histories.
• Perform basic and assisted deliveries, and offer the full range of short‑ and long‑acting contraceptive methods, including IUD and implant insertion/removal.
• Carry out neonatal and obstetric resuscitation as needed and refer emergencies to the nearest Emergency Obstetric Care centre.
• Supervise and verify community health volunteers’ counseling quality and injection techniques.
• Maintain links with Family Health Action Groups, Community Health Shura, and CHWs for referrals and follow‑up.
• Deliver antenatal and postnatal care following national and international protocols.
• Promote health education, hygiene, and infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.

Required profile

• Certified midwife with experience in reproductive health and family planning.
• Ability to work in challenging, resource‑limited environments.
• Strong communication skills for community engagement and mentorship.
• Commitment to rights‑based, client‑centered care.
