Supply Chain Assistant – Procurement & Logistics Support

About the role

The Supply Chain Assistant will support IOM's humanitarian and development operations across Afghanistan by handling procurement, logistics, asset management, and vendor coordination. Working closely with programme and operational teams, the role ensures timely, efficient, and compliant delivery of goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and consolidate procurement requisition forms in line with the Purchase Authorization Matrix.
• Prepare tender documents, solicit bids, conduct bid analysis, and share summaries with requesting units.
• Confirm agreement terms with selected suppliers, issue purchase orders or contracts, and secure required authorizations.
• Monitor open requisitions, follow up on deliveries, and coordinate receipt documentation with the receiving unit.
• Review vendor invoices, prepare payment requests, and liaise with Finance for timely supplier payments.
• Maintain physical and electronic procurement records and support periodic reporting.
• Conduct market surveys, evaluate new suppliers on quality, price, and service.
• Track contractual agreements, alert parties for renewals, and manage office supply requisitions.
• Provide procurement guidance to staff and support property, asset, warehousing, insurance, and transportation tasks.
• Coordinate driver movements, maintain vehicle logbooks, monitor fuel consumption and maintenance records.
• Oversee contractor activities on office premises and assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and trainings.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field with at least two years relevant experience, OR high school diploma with four years relevant experience.
• Certification in Procurement, Logistics or Supply Chain Management is an advantage.
