Health and Nutrition Assistant

About the role

The Health and Nutrition Assistant will support World Vision’s health and nutrition programmes in selected provinces of Afghanistan. Working full‑time on a grant‑funded basis, the role involves regular travel to project sites, close collaboration with health facilities and community health workers, and assistance to the Health and Nutrition Officer/Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of health and nutrition services through static health centres and mobile teams.
• Ensure timely distribution of medical and non‑medical supplies to health facilities.
• Monitor and supervise the quality of services to meet project standards.
• Organise and conduct training sessions for health personnel.
• Provide ongoing mentorship and capacity‑building for health staff.
• Coordinate referrals of critical patients to secondary and tertiary care facilities and follow up on cases.
• Collaborate with local stakeholders to improve programme visibility and effectiveness.
• Travel regularly to project sites and engage with community health workers.

Required profile

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the designated provinces.
• Ability to work closely with health facilities, community health workers and local partners.
