Security Associate (G-6) – Temporary Position

About the role

The Security Associate supports the Security Officer in ensuring the safety of UNICEF staff, their families, and the organization’s assets at the duty stations in Jalalabad and Kandahar. This is a temporary, fixed‑term position that combines technical, operational and administrative duties.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in security planning and implementation of safety and security services.
• Conduct physical security surveys and develop security plans for premises and assets.
• Support security networking, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.
• Provide operational assistance for risk assessment, emergency preparedness, incident management and crisis response.
• Ensure compliance with UN security policies, rules and procedures.

Required profile

• Secondary education plus relevant technical/security, military or police courses, or a university degree in security studies, law enforcement, military science, criminal justice, public administration, international relations or related fields.
• Minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in a security‑related environment.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of another UN language or local languages (Pashto, Dari) is desirable.
• Experience in NGOs/INGOs and in fragile or humanitarian settings is an advantage.
