Finance Officer - Partnership

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a Finance Officer – Partnership to support financial internal control, partner monitoring and reporting across its programmes in Afghanistan. The role ensures sub‑award transactions are accurately recorded, liquidity is maintained for partners and financial information is timely and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Record all expense and sub‑grant transactions in Agresso for assigned offices and partners in the correct period.
• Identify and post required corrections, adjustments and accruals at period end or award end.
• Ensure amortisation of advances and expenses, and allocate transactions to correct cost codes.
• Review and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts of assigned offices in Agresso according to finance policies.
• Produce monthly expense reports for partners and include partner costs in cash projections.
• Monitor and clear advances to partners in both local currency and USD.
• Analyse cash forecasts against partner cash requests to maintain optimal cash levels for Save the Children activities.
• Provide financial input for partner selection and partner assessment processes.

Required profile

• Experience in financial accounting, sub‑award management and cash forecasting, preferably in humanitarian or NGO settings.
• Familiarity with financial management systems, specifically Agresso.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt working hours during emergencies.
• Understanding of child safeguarding policies (Level 3 contact with children/young people).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to build effective relationships with budget holders and partner organisations.
