Driver (G-2) – Temporary Position in Afghanistan

About the role

The UNICEF office in Afghanistan is seeking a G‑2 level Driver on a temporary basis to provide reliable and safe transportation for staff and officials across Kandahar, Lashkar Gah and Jalalabad.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe driving services for UNICEF personnel and visitors.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle, performing routine checks and minor repairs.
• Document and update all vehicle‑related information and records.

Required profile

• Secondary education (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a clean driving record.
• Fluent in Pashto and Dari; basic proficiency in English.
• Ability to work with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Safe driving and defensive driving techniques.
• Knowledge of local roads, traffic rules and regulations.
• Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
