Driver (G-2) – Fixed Term – Gardez, Afghanistan

About the role

The Driver will provide safe and reliable transportation services for UNICEF staff and assets in Gardez, Afghanistan. This fixed‑term position requires strict adherence to local traffic regulations and UNICEF protocols while supporting office operations during non‑driving periods.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe and reliable driving services for UNICEF personnel and cargo, complying with local traffic rules and UNICEF protocols.
• Conduct routine vehicle checks, maintenance, and documentation to ensure vehicle readiness.
• Utilise digital tracking and reporting tools to record trips, mileage, and any incidents.
• Support office operations during idle periods, including administrative tasks and emergency preparedness.

Required profile

• Secondary education and a valid driver’s licence.
• At least 2 years experience as an armoured‑vehicle driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a clean safety record.
• Basic proficiency in English and fluency in Pashto and Dari.
• Professionalism, discretion and ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
