Driver (G-2) – Fixed Term – Gardez, Afghanistan

About the role

The Driver provides reliable and safe transportation services for UNICEF in Gardez, ensuring compliance with local traffic rules and UNICEF protocols. The role includes both driving duties and support for office operations during non‑driving periods.

Key responsibilities

• Safe and reliable driving of armoured vehicles.
• Routine vehicle care, maintenance and readiness checks.
• Use of digital tools and tracking systems for trip monitoring.
• Trip documentation, reporting and communication with headquarters.
• Emergency readiness and rapid response when required.
• Support office operations during idle periods.

Required profile

• Secondary education and a valid driver’s licence.
• Minimum 2 years experience as an armoured‑vehicle driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a clean safety record.
• Basic English and fluency in Pashto and Dari.
• Desirable: knowledge of another UN language, QDT or armoured‑vehicle training, prior UN experience.
