Security Guard – Internal Operations

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a dedicated Guard to ensure the safety and security of its facilities and personnel. Working on‑site, you will control access, conduct inspections, and patrol designated areas to protect staff, assets and sensitive equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Control access to DRC premises, screen personnel and vehicles, and register all visitors.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to prevent entry of weapons, explosives, contraband or other threats.
• Escort guests, monitor movement of staff, contractors and residents, and ensure unauthorized persons are denied entry.
• Perform routine foot patrols, identify suspicious activities and report incidents using the approved format.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot security and communications equipment, including VHF handheld radios.
• Operate generators, conduct refueling and keep the guard room, compound and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
• Provide handover briefings to the incoming guard and secure office sections after working hours.
• Maintain security around explosive‑material storage areas and safeguard technical equipment and vehicles.

Required profile

• Reliability and punctuality to report for duty and remain at the assigned post for the full shift.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and conduct proper handovers.
• Attention to detail for vehicle inspections and incident reporting.
• Physical fitness to perform foot patrols and handle security equipment.

Required skills

• Operation of security and communications equipment.
• Use of VHF handheld radios.
• Generator operation and routine refueling.
