Chief Risk Management (P-5) – Fixed Term – Kabul

About the role

The Chief Risk Management officer, reporting to the Deputy Representative Operations, provides risk‑informed, solution‑focused analysis to strengthen UNICEF’s governance, risk management and control processes, ensuring efficient delivery of results for children.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance risk management to improve organisational performance and internal controls.
• Lead engagement planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and management of risk‑related activities.
• Integrate risk management across programmes and operations, including partnership management under HACT and environmental and social safeguards.
• Drive innovation, knowledge management and capacity development in risk practices.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in audit, business administration, finance, economics, accounting, risk management or related field.
• Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in strategy, governance or risk management, with at least five years at the international level.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or local language is an asset.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in risk management, governance and internal controls.
• Experience in emergency contexts and development settings is highly desirable.
